Getting
there ... |
October
29, 2001
I'm late again
with delivery, BUT, this time only by a few hours ... MUCH BETTER
than the first time, don't you think?
Bear with
me, PLEASE. I'm diligently working to publish a Web site and
newsletters of substance. And as lone editor, as well as publisher,
it's a gigantic bite. I've left the invitation open for those desiring
to play an active role in this endeavor, but up to this point, I have no
takers. Everyone is too busy to take on yet another project, which
is something I understand and appreciate. No problem. I'm on
a role and I'll get this done, even if I have to do it alone. I assure
you, this will become one of the most informative publications to be found
anywhere on the Internet for as long as I have anything to do with it.
What I've done
this month is incorporate most of my other Web sites here, as there is
much information to be found on them as well. There are close to
20 sites listed on the Contents page, which still leaves about 10 that
aren't yet included. I've been in Internet-based business since 1990,
although at the onset, I was still active in the workforce outside my home,
and had to tend to the Internet stuff on a part-time basis. During
that time, I built all my other various Web sites as I developed the various
components of my business enterprise, Equipoise Companies, Inc., which
I spearheaded in 1994.
Previously,
in 1980, my mother and I worked on a special publication under our publication
company name, Li-Ca Press, which still exists today, and that publication
is due for revamping in January 2002. The next component of my enterprise
was Branarismen Productions, through which in the beginning (1984) I promoted
local talent and music concerts, but have since begun to promote entertainment
across all genres. Without going deeper into the history of my company
here, I simply wanted to share that the addition of Web addresses with
this month's issue isn't about a *sudden* cropping up of *new* enterprises,
but rather giving established ones the exposure as Lighthouse for the Mind
takes its ascension.
While there
might still be some nonfunctional links, last month's problem has been
resolved, as I took meticulous care in doing my own clicking, deleting
and otherwise modifying. Also, some sites might not be accessible,
as there are numerous updates I still need to make before allowing visitors;
a task I project to be complete by the middle of November.
I'll say it
each month: CHECK BACK REGULARLY, as I UPDATE MY SITES DAILY.
There will always be something new to discover, as I'm always surfing the
'Net and coming across things worthy of sharing.

I hope you all read "Reparations? You Betcha! ... They Owe Us Big Time!"
by Carol of Carol on theWeb.
I also hope you'll offer rebuttals to this masterpiece of hers (yeah right),
as if it rubbed you in as much the wrong way as it did me, you certainly
have much to say in response. |

In-Progress
Moving
Forward to Push Our Status Upward (MFTPOSU)
-
Conduct a census
that depicts our accurate numbers
-
Growth of our
contributions to the economy
-
Provide full
employment for everybody
-
Build a caring
society of law-abiding citizens
-
Address poverty,
HIV/AIDS, education, employment, family structure
This is going
to be another of my babies. I want to restrict discussion and any
other form of imparting info about this to our private intranet, as much
of the information will be sensitive, and I also feel that in this regard,
we should play the roles of elitists to the hilt.
I'll keep you
posted on what's happening at my end. Meanwhile, please contemplate
the above rough-drafted outline and submit all the ideas that come to your
minds. |

The New Millennium: A Black Reparations
Report From The Future, by Dorothy Benton Lewis "Aurevouche", Co-Chair
of N'COBRA is a working paper draft. It was first presented
at the 11th Annual Reparations Conference of the National Coalition of
Blacks for Reparations in America (N'COBRA), June 21, 2000 at Howard University,
Blackburn Center, revised for presentation at the Million Family March's
Scholars Symposium on Black Families, October 13, 2000. The paper
is being used as a fundraiser for N'COBRA's International work. Please
send a check in any amount you wish to contribute to N'COBRA at the address
below, and make the notation "For International Work" on the check.
Ms.Benton invites us all to join her in editing the script. The only
condition is that anything you contribute, must be what you desire. After
all, as she puts it, "the future is in our hands". To have your ideas
reflected in this paper, please write your views and mail to:

Let’s do what
we can to support the efforts of N’COBRA, as that’s one of our
MAJOR
channels through which we’re kept apprised of what’s going on with Reparations
issues. It has been suggested that those interested, should organize
fundraisng events in our relative areas to help supported N’COBRA’s
Legal Fund. Encourage local artists (writers, musicians, singers,
choirs, poets, painters, cooks-chefs, etc.) to put on benefit shows for
“our” just cause.
Anyone needing
help with organizing events can feel free to contact me at 630-536-2700
ext 4152.

I’ve been
trying to find information about the National Ex-Slave Mutual Relief, Bounty
and Pension Association NEMRB and PA) but so far have been
unable to. If anyone knows about this association and has facts and
contact information, please contact me at lighthouseforthemind@onebox.com
and let me know, so that I can include it in the next issue. |
